I try to incorporate positive affirmations into my daily routine. Sometimes I miss a few days or forget to do them for a few weeks, but I feel like they help my days go smoother. My friend, Suzanne, first introduced me to positive affirmations. At first I felt silly saying them to myself as I drove to work in the morning, but now they’re part of my morning routine.
For those who aren’t familiar with positive affirmations, please check out a definition here.
Louise Hay is the queen of positive affirmations dealing with health and wellbeing. I downloaded her “Heal Your Body” app on my iPad and looked up “Candida.” Her probable cause for those dealing with candida included “Feeling very scattered. Lots of frustration and anger. Demanding and untrusting in relationships. Great takers.”
Her suggested affirmation for those dealing with candida is:
“I give myself permission to be all that I can be, and I deserve the very best in life. I love and appreciate myself and others.”
Each morning as I was getting ready for work, I would look into my eyes in the mirror as repeat that affirmation. I truly believe that positive affirmations can make a positive difference in everyone’s life. They can be whatever you want them to be, as long as you phrase them in a positive manner. For example, instead of saying “I will not be lazy,” you would phrase and affirmation “I will be full of energy and able to accomplish all my tasks with ease.”
Try creating a positive affirmation for something you are wanting to accomplish in your life.
I was introduced to the “Relax and Rest Well” App by Blake. It is produced by Ron Howard and has multiple hypnosis tracks each with a different aim. I was initially drawn to the “Heal Your Body” and “Detox Your Life” tracks. I believe they were each $2.99 and worth every penny!
I would listen to the hypnosis tracks each night as I drifted off to sleep. They play for 30-60 minutes and work on a subconscious level. I have no scientific proof that they work, but I believe they made a positive difference in my recovery and I still use various hypnosis tracks from the App to fall asleep at night.
Walks in Nature
Even though I had absolutely no energy for the first month or so of my cleanse, I had to take Layla on her daily walk. We would walk for a half hour and I would usually stop at least once during the walk to just sit, relax, and enjoy my beautiful surroundings.
By getting fresh air, taking in my beautiful natural surroundings, and having some time to reflect was definitely beneficial in my healing. Again, I don’t have any scientific backing, but I know from personal experience that taking a daily walk in nature is very therapeutic.
I know this one seems basic, but we all need our sleep. During our sleep sessions, the body is able to repair and heal itself. I tried to go to bed before 10 pm most nights during my cleanse and would turn on one of the hypnosis tracks I mentioned earlier. The more sleep, rest, and relaxation we can give our bodies, the more healing that can take place. I don’t have a lot to write about sleep other than that it’s very beneficial for the body. I red once that we receive the most benefits from sleep in the hours prior to midnight. I don’t have a source for this, but noticed that I feel a lot more rested when I get to bed and turn off my light before midnight.
I am a huge believer in meditation. I do not practice it often enough (I would love to do it daily, but often climb into bed realizing that I never had a chance to lay down and do a 10-minute meditation session.) When I was doing my cleanse, I would aim to listen to a guided meditation on YouTube at lease 4-5 times per week. I found the best time for me to do it was when I completed a walk or workout. Google “10-minute guided meditation” and choose a YouTube video that speaks to you. I have a few favorites, but am always open to trying new ones.
I’m the first to admit that I don’t like to journal. I feel like it takes way to long with write out my thoughts when they’re flying through my head a mile a minute. However, there is something very therapeutic about writing your thoughts down in a safe place. Whenever I felt overwhelmed, I would take out my leather bound journal at the end of the day while I was unwinding in bed, and write out my thoughts. Somehow, I felt lighter and more relaxed after my journaling session.
You can view my posts on the food I ate and supplements I took while completing my parasite/candida cleanse. I know that what I fueled my body with was incredibly important, but I believe that these lifestyle choices were just as important with the emotional and spiritual aspect of curing my Candida and parasite infection.
